Modems and Terminals for Iridium Certus

Iridium Certus provides data rates of up to 352 kbps. With a firmware upgrade expected to be available in the second quarter of 2019, the data rate will be 704 kbps. The Iridium Certus devices are based on the new satellite network Iridium NEXT, which has been fully operational since January 2019. The Iridium NEXT network provides global coverage from North to South Pole. The manufacturer Thales has launched the MissionLINK, a small, lightweight mobile device. In contrast to mobile Inmarsat BGAN terminals, which are mounted on vehicles, the MissionLINK does not require a self-tracking antenna. As a result, the device is significantly cheaper in the purchase.

Thales offers antenna cable lengths of up to 100 ft/33 m, making the device well suited as an emergency device for control centers. Features of the MissionLINK: Up to 3 parallel telephone connections, WLAN multi-user capability, PTT, SBD, streaming IP (guaranteed data rate) up to 256 kbps and a connection to a telephone system is possible.
